Therapy Assistant Services
A structured way to keep your rehabilitation moving with the right support at every stage.
Rehabilitation works best when it is consistent, not just during clinic sessions. Our therapy assistants work alongside our physiotherapists and occupational therapists to keep your programme moving, delivering the hands-on support that helps you build consistency, confidence, and real progress over time.
At HNR, your rehabilitation is structured. Your programme is designed by your clinician, worked on regularly, and reviewed as you progress so you’re not just being assessed, you’re actively working toward your goals.
Whether you’re working through an exercise programme, building strength and independence at home, or taking part in a group class, our therapy assistants bring the same commitment and care you’d expect from every member of the Hibiscus Neuro Rehab team.
How Therapy Assistant Support Works
Our therapy assistants work as part of your wider rehabilitation team. Every programme is set and overseen by one of our physiotherapists or occupational therapists - and your therapy assistant carries it out with skill, consistency, and genuine care.
Depending on your needs and the stage of your rehabilitation, your therapy assistant may work with you alongside regular sessions with your physiotherapist or occupational therapist directly under clinical supervision, or support you more independently as part of an agreed care plan. Either way, your progress is monitored closely and your programme adjusted as you move forward.
What Therapy Assistant Support Can Include
Delivering Your Exercise Programme - Keeping an exercise programme going on your own can be challenging.
Your therapy assistant can work through it with you either in clinic or at home helping you:
Stay consistent
Use the right technique
Feel more confident with each session
This means your programme is not just planned - it’s being carried out regularly, with your clinician guiding when to progress or adjust it.
Home Visit Support - For many people, the most meaningful rehabilitation happens at home — where the real challenges of daily life are. Our therapy assistants can visit you at home to support your programme in the environment that matters most, helping you apply what you’re working on to your actual day-to-day life.
Group Class Support - Our therapy assistants play an important role in our group classes providing additional hands-on support so that every participant gets the attention and guidance they need. If you’re attending one of our group sessions, you’ll see familiar faces there to help you get the most out of every class.
Your Questions Answered
What is a Therapy Assistant?
A Therapy Assistant is a trained member of the rehabilitation team who works under the direction of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist. They carry out prescribed exercise programmes, provide hands-on support, and help keep your rehabilitation consistent between clinical appointments.
Is a therapy assistant the same as a physio or OT?
No - therapy assistants are not registered clinicians, but they are a valued and skilled part of your care team. Your physiotherapist or occupational therapist remains responsible for your assessment, programme design, and clinical decisions. Your therapy assistant supports you to carry that programme out in a consistent, practical way.
