Neuro Physiotherapy
Supporting movement, balance, mobility, and independence across the Hibiscus Coast and surrounding areas.
If you are living with a neurological condition such as stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, concussion, spinal cord injury, Multiple Sclerosis, dizziness, balance difficulties, or other neurological disorders, you may benefit from working with a neurological physiotherapist.
At Hibiscus Neuro Rehab, we provide personalised neurological and vestibular rehabilitation designed to help improve movement, confidence, balance, mobility, and everyday function.
Rehabilitation Focused on Everyday
Neurological conditions often affect far more than physical movement alone. They can impact confidence, balance, mobility, fatigue, coordination, and the ability to comfortably manage day-to-day activities.
Neurological physiotherapy is different from general physiotherapy because it focuses specifically on movement and functional difficulties caused by changes within the brain, spinal cord, nervous system, or vestibular system. Rehabilitation focuses on helping you move more confidently and safely in the activities that matter most to your daily life.
A neurological Physiotherapist assessment will look at your whole body and consider how it affects you functionally some things we may look at are:
Muscle weakness
Altered sensation and proprioception
Changes in muscle length
Muscle fatigue
Spasticity and tone
Difficulties with co-ordination
Balance impairments
Your daily challenges
Our therapy can help improve your quality of life by addressing how you move and complete activities in your daily life:

Your Questions Answered
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No, you don’t need a referral to get started. You’re welcome to contact us directly to book an initial consultation.
Do you provide home visits?
Yes. Home visits are available throughout the Hibiscus Coast and surrounding areas.
What's the difference between neurological physiotherapy and general physiotherapy?
General physiotherapy often focuses on muscles, joints, and injuries — like back pain, sprains, or post-surgery recovery.
Neurological physiotherapy focuses on how the brain and nervous system affect movement - including balance, coordination, walking, and everyday function after conditions like stroke, Parkinson’s, or brain injury. We look at the complex interplay of the whole system and treat this to improve your overall function rather than improve one body part. We also work as part of a multidisciplinary team so we can extend your care to other health care providers such as OT’s Speech and Language therapists Dieticians, Therapy assistants to help improve your functionality for now and the future.
What happens at the first appointment?
At your first appointment, we take the time to really understand what’s going on for you — where you are now, and where you want to get back to.
We start with an in-depth conversation about your symptoms, your goals, and what life has looked like for you up until now.
From there, we complete a detailed physical assessment, looking at your movement, balance, mobility, and any other areas that may be contributing to what you’re experiencing.
We also use outcome measures to give us a clear picture of how things are currently for you. This helps guide the creation of a personalised rehabilitation plan built around your goals.
With your permission, we liaise with your medical team to keep everyone informed and make sure your care is well coordinated.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer understanding of what’s going on and what your next steps could look like.
Can rehabilitation help progressive neurological conditions?
Absolutely - in fact, we encourage it.
For conditions such as Parkinson’s, MS, cerebellar conditions, or MND, taking a proactive approach to managing your condition can make a real difference.
We often say:
It’s easier to maintain function than it is to regain it.
We see people at all stages of their journey, from early diagnosis through to more advanced stages.
The best time to start is always sooner rather than later, but the right time is whenever you feel ready to take that next step.
