Group Classes
Clinically guided group rehabilitation - movement, balance, strength, and connection, at our clinic on the Hibiscus Coast.
Recovery is not always a solo effort. For many people, working alongside others who understand what it feels like to live with a neurological or balance condition brings something that one-to-one sessions alone cannot - encouragement, motivation, and the quiet reassurance that you are not doing this on your own.
Our group classes are clinically designed and carefully supervised. Each session brings together movement, balance, strength, and practical education in a supportive environment where every person is seen, supported, and progressed at their own pace.
What Makes Our Classes Different
These are not generic exercise classes. Every session is designed by our clinical team with neurological and vestibular rehabilitation in mind - and delivered with the level of attention you would expect from Hibiscus Neuro Rehab.
We keep class sizes small so that every participant receives meaningful support throughout each session. Our team works together to make sure no one gets lost in the group and that everyone leaves having worked at the right level for them.
Whether you are just starting out, maintaining progress between individual sessions, or looking for ongoing support in a group setting, there is a place for you here.
PD WARRIOR
Neuro-Active Exercise
For people newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s, this class provides a clear and supported way to start taking action.
PD Warrior is a neuro-active exercise approach built around seven key principles that focus on retraining how the brain and body work together, not just maintaining movement.
In this class, you will:
Learn how to actively manage your condition
Work through structured exercises designed specifically for Parkinson’s
Build confidence in how you move and function day to day
This is not general exercise. It is targeted, clinically guided rehabilitation designed to help you stay active, independent, and engaged in life.
STRONG & ACTIVE
Balance and Fitness
If your balance isn’t what it used to be or you’re feeling less steady, this class is designed for you.
Strong and Active focuses on improving balance, strength, and overall fitness in a way that supports neurological recovery.
What most people don’t realise is that after illness, injury, or neurological change, the body often needs the right kind of challenge to adapt — this is where neuroplasticity comes in.
In this class, we work toward:
Improving balance and confidence
Building strength for everyday movement
Supporting cardiovascular health (brain, heart, and lungs)
Helping you move more easily in daily life
Every exercise is adapted to your level, so you can work safely while still being challenged in the right way.
FIT & ACTIVE
In Partnership with Laura Fergusson Trust
A supported introduction to exercise for people living with physical disabilities.
This class has been developed in conjunction with Laura Fergusson Trust to provide a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for building fitness and confidence.
Starting exercise can feel like a big step especially if you are unsure where to begin or what is appropriate for your body.
This class is designed to:
Help you get started with exercise in a supported way
Build strength, fitness, and confidence over time
Provide guidance so you know what is safe and helpful for you
You’ll be supported throughout the session, with exercises adapted to suit your individual needs and starting point.
What The Classes Cover
Exercise and Movement
Structured movement sessions designed to support neurological and vestibular rehabilitation - helping you build function, confidence, and the physical capacity to do more of what matters in everyday life. Every exercise is selected with your condition and goals in mind, not just general fitness.
Balance and Falls Prevention
Balance work is woven through every class - because for most of the people we work with, feeling steadier is one of the most meaningful things rehabilitation can achieve. Exercises are graded to your level and progressed as your confidence and stability improve.
Strength and Conditioning
Building and maintaining strength supports everything else - balance, mobility, fatigue management, and the ability to manage the physical demands of daily life. Our strength work is realistic, achievable, and always connected to what you are working toward.
Education and Self-Management
Understanding your condition and how to manage it day to day - is a powerful part of recovery. Our classes include education woven into each session: practical knowledge about fatigue, movement, balance, and how to keep making progress between classes and at home.
Social Connection and Peer Support
One of the things people tell us they value most about group classes is the people they meet. Living with a neurological or balance condition can feel isolating and being in a room with others who genuinely understand that is something that is hard to put a clinical value on, but impossible to overlook. Our classes are a place where people feel comfortable, welcomed, and part of something.
Class Options
We offer both ongoing classes and fixed-term programmes, so there is an option to suit where you are in your rehabilitation and what works best for your life.
Ongoing Classes
Our ongoing classes run regularly at our clinic and are open to people at various stages of their rehabilitation. They are ideal for those who want to maintain progress, stay active, and benefit from continued clinical support and peer connection over time. You can join when it suits you and continue for as long as the classes are adding value.
Fixed-Term Programmes
Our fixed-term programmes offer a structured course of group sessions, typically run over a set number of weeks with a clear focus and a defined progression through that time. They suit people who are working toward a specific goal or who prefer the structure of a programme with a beginning, a middle, and a clear endpoint. Details of current programmes are available on request.
All classes are held at our clinic at 3/55 Karepiro Drive, Stanmore Bay, Whangaparaoa. Get in touch to find out what is currently running and whether it is right for you.
Your Questions Answered
Do I need to be an existing patient to join a class?
Not necessarily. If you are new to Hibiscus Neuro Rehab, we will ask you to have a brief initial assessment before joining a class - so we can make sure the class is right for you and understand how best to support you within it. Get in touch and we’ll talk you through the process.
Are the classes suitable for my condition?
Our classes are designed for people living with neurological and balance conditions - including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, brain injury, concussion, vestibular disorders, balance difficulties, and general deconditioning. If you are unsure whether a class is right for your situation, give us a call and we’ll talk it through.
What if I am more affected than others in the class?
Classes are structured so that every participant works at their own level. Our team adjusts exercises and provides individual support throughout each session - so you will never be expected to keep up with others or pushed beyond what is appropriate for you.
How many people are in each class?
We keep class sizes small so that everyone receives genuine attention and support. This is not a gym class — it is clinically guided group rehabilitation, and the size of each group reflects that.
Do I need a referral to join?
No referral is needed. Get in touch directly and we will guide you through the next steps.
What should I wear or bring?
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily is ideal. Supportive footwear is important — please avoid jandals or bare feet. If you use a mobility aid, please bring it along. We’ll let you know if there is anything else specific to the class you are joining.
How do I find out what classes are currently running?
The best way is to get in touch directly. We can let you know what is currently available, when classes run, and help you find the right fit.
