Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular Disorders causing symptoms of dizziness, vertigo and unsteadiness, cause a huge impact on a person's daily life. Some conditions that cause vestibular symptoms are  Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV),  Labyrinthitis or Vestibular Neuritis, Meineres disease, Migraine related vestibular dysfunction, Traumatic Brain Injuries.

There is strong evidence to support that canal repositioning techniques for BPPV and exercises for other vestibular disorders are effective at reducing symptoms of vestibular disorders and improved function. Our team has experience in vestibular rehabilitation. Please contact me for further information or an appointment.

"The OEP is the result of over a decade of research by the New Zealand Falls Prevention Research Group (NZFPRG) at the University of Otago Medical School. The OEP is a home based falls programme that includes lower limb strengthening and balance and stretches.

"The OEP was developed specifically to prevent falls in older community dwelling people. It has been tested in four separate controlled trials which included over 1,000 people aged from 65 to 97 living in nine New Zealand towns and cities". It has been shown to reduce the risk of having a fall by 35% and reduces the severity of falls
